Privacy Policy

Dhakhtar — Last updated: August 19, 2026

Dhakhtar ("we," "us," "our") operates the Dhakhtar mobile app, the Dhakhtar hospital and platform administration portal, and the website at dhakhtar.so (together, the "Service"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and — because this matters most in healthcare — exactly who can see it.

If anything here is unclear, contact us at info@dhakhtar.so.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account information (patients)

When you register as a patient, we collect:

1.2 Family member profiles

If you add a family member (spouse, child, parent, sibling, or other dependent) so you can book appointments on their behalf, we collect their name, relationship to you, gender, date of birth, and phone number if they have one. Family member profiles do not have their own login — they are managed entirely through your account, and you are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide about them.

1.3 Booking information

When you book an appointment, we collect the doctor, hospital, appointment date and time, consultation fee, and — if you add them — any notes relevant to that visit.

1.4 Payment information

When you pay for a booking, we collect the mobile money wallet you choose to use (Sahal, eDahab, MyCash, EVC Plus, or Zaad) and the transaction reference and status returned by that provider. We do not store your mobile money PIN or full account credentials — payment is authorized directly through your chosen provider, and we only receive confirmation of success or failure.

1.5 Hospital and doctor information

Hospitals that register on Dhakhtar provide their name, registration number, address, city, phone number, and information about their doctors (name, specialty, consultation fee, and schedule availability).

1.6 Technical information

We automatically collect basic technical data needed to operate the Service: device type, app version, and error logs if the app crashes. This is used to fix problems, not to track you across other apps or websites.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information above to:

We do not sell your personal or medical information to advertisers, and we do not use your health-related information to serve you ads.

3. Who Can See Your Information

This is the section that matters most, so we're being specific rather than vague:

Who What they can see
You Your full profile, all your bookings, and all family member profiles you manage
The hospital you book with Your name, phone number, and the details of the specific booking you made with them — not your bookings with any other hospital
The doctor you book with The same booking details as their hospital, plus any notes you add for that visit
Dhakhtar platform administrators Broader access across all hospitals, used only for customer support, fraud prevention, and keeping the platform running — this access is more limited to a small internal team and is not available to hospital staff

Each hospital using Dhakhtar can only ever see its own patients and bookings. A hospital cannot see who booked with a different hospital, and cannot see your family members' profiles unless a booking was actually made with them for that family member.

4. Payment Processing

Payments are processed through Somali mobile money providers (Sahal, eDahab, MyCash, EVC Plus, Zaad). When you pay, your payment request is sent directly to your chosen provider for authorization. Dhakhtar receives only a transaction reference and a success/failure status back — we do not have access to your mobile money account itself. The small booking fee charged to patients (separate from the hospital's consultation fee) covers this payment processing; hospitals are never charged to use Dhakhtar.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only in these limited cases:

6. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:

No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — but we design the platform so that a hospital's own staff cannot accidentally or intentionally view another hospital's patients.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account and booking information for as long as your account is active, so you can view your appointment history. If you delete your account, we remove or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we're required to retain certain records (such as payment transaction logs) for legal or accounting purposes.

8. Your Rights and Choices

You can:

9. Children's Information

Dhakhtar's own account holders must be adults. Children's information may be added only as a family member profile managed by a parent or guardian's account — children do not register for or use Dhakhtar directly, and have no separate login or app access of their own.

10. Language

Dhakhtar is designed Somali-first, with English available throughout the app. This policy is provided in English; a Somali translation is available on request at info@dhakhtar.so.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the Service changes. If we make material changes, we'll notify you through the app or by email before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
